How the bodybuilder tape is made

We want to explain the manufacturing process of the bodybuilder tape so that you know first-hand the complexity of the system and help you compare a quality tape with one that is not.
Bodybuilder Tape Manufacturing Process
The tape basically consists of two main components: the support material and the adhesive layer that adheres to the support. In the tape manufacturing process these two components are joined depending on the requirement that each tape needs (crepe tape, UV backing tape, rice paper tape...). Each type of tape is made up of a different support and adhesive, because not all applications and needs are the same.
Let's see the necessary steps for the standard manufacture of the tape:
- Firstly, the Adhesive is prepared for the coating by mixing it with a solvent that helps transfer it to the support. The adhesive and solvent used depend on the type of tape we want to manufacture: in general, we are talking about rubber resins, hot melt and acrylic adhesives (with acrylic or water-based solvents) .In the case of masking tape Used for Plastic with masking tape, natural rubber resins with solvents are normally used.
Second, the coating is pre-prepared. The support jumbo is unwound to prepare it for coating. At this point, the adhesive is transferred to the backing with a thin, uniform layer that becomes solid as the solvent evaporates.
Third, the cut is made. Once the adhesive has dried, the backing is rewound to create the roll. The jumbo is still a wide band that will be cut to different widths to create the final product. Once cut to the desired width, it is wound onto a new mandrel and packed individually, ready for delivery.
In the case of the bodybuilder tape that will be used later for the manufacture of the Quick Mask® rolls They are cut to a longer length especially for the Masking Film production machines, approximately 500mts of tape per roll.
